Annotation of project:
The overall objective of the proposal is the development of magnetically modified biogenic iron oxides with the aim to prepare, study and apply smart magnetic composite materials which can be influenced (manipulated) by external magnetic field. The following main areas will be studied: Preparation of appropriate magnetic nanoparticles (magnetic fluids) suitable for subsequent magnetic modification of biogenic iron oxides Study of preparation of magnetically modified biogenic iron oxides Detailed magnetic and microscopy characterization of prepared magnetic composite materials Immobilization of target biologically active compounds and affinity ligands on the prepared composite materials and their further applications Experimental evaluation of magnetic separation and preconcentration of xenobiotics using the developed magnetic composites

The aim of the proposed project is ACTIVE support of the involvement of regional R&D centers in projects of international scientific research cooperation and creation of conditions leading to improvement of the integration of regional R&D centers in the ERA. Annotation of project:
The goals of the project are (1) to describe changes in metabolite profile of barley plants (Hordeum vulgare) and dynamics of their physiological (photosynthesis) and morphological (growth) responses during the acclimation to various intensities of ultraviolet radiation (UV-A and UV-B) in combination with photosynthetically active radiation, (2) to analyse main limitation processes of photosynthesis, and (3) to study the functional connection between changes in plants metabolite profile and their physiological and morphological responses. We will focus on metabolites that have protective functions in photosynthesis, significantly influence plants development or they have important nutrition potential.

Annotation of project:
The aim of the project is to contribute to the development of a scientifically sound procedures for the representative sampling, preparation, processing of the samples and analysis of the selected wood samples, particularly Norway spruce, as well as selected cereals or pseudocereals, such as buckwheat, on the content of lignans and their distribution. Further to optimize preparation procedures, the extraction and analysis with the emphasis on the relatively common lignans, such as matairesinol, hydroxymatairesinol, secoisolariciresinol and lariciresinol. Besides these lignans try to identify by using modern instrumental methods other minority lignans, including enterolignans. Besides the description of the occurrence and distribution of the selected lignans and enterolignans in the biomass of the trees and cereals or pseudocereals, try to identify these substances in the ecosystem of the river Vltava.

Annotation of project:
The invasive plants like Reynoutria species (Reynoutria japonica, R. sachalinensis, R. x bohemica) and Impatiens species (Impatiens glandulifera, I. parviflora) which uncontrollably spread not only in Europe. These plants create compact growth along waterways and forest ecosystems. They are now inconvenient weed in the above mentioned ecosystem. However, these plants contain many secondary metabolites which have significant biologically activite properties e.g. stilbens and anthraquinones in Reynoutria species, napthoquinones in Impatiens species. Anthraquinones and napthoquinones revealed allelochemical, fungicidal, insecticidal activity, some of them also estrogenic activity. The growths of these invasive plants are wiped out both mechanically and chemically. The plant bodies decayed very slowly and poorly. Therefore the plant materials of invasive plants should serve as cheap material for isolation of the biologically active substances, like quinones and their derivatives.
