The CzechGlobe project will shed new light on a crucial and sometimes controversial environmental problem: monitoring Global Climate Change (GCC) and assessing its impacts on the basic thematic segments of atmosphere, ecosystems and socioeconomic systems.
The project will establish a centre of excellence within the framework of EU structural funds (Operational Programme of Research and Development for Innovations of the Czech Republic) involving spatially distributed research infrastructure within the Czech Republic:

atmospheric station - national point of high-altitude greenhouse gases monitoring in the reference layer of the atmosphere – measuring tower will be located in the central part of the Czech Republic (in the cultural landscape of Českomoravská vrchovina, Košetice, region Pelhřimov) and it will form a part of the European network ICOS

 |
a national network of ecosystem stations and monitoring points focused on observation, quantification and evaluation of (i) carbon fluxes within different ecosystem types and (ii) cycles of basic bio-geochemical elements in the set of small river-basins |

central laboratory of plants physiological, isotopic and metabolomic investigations for studies of processes associated with carbon assimilation under changing environment

infrastructure for long-term impact experiments – establishment of growth chambers infrastructure, open top chambers and cultivation glass domes

flying remote sensing laboratory and a station for processing of airborne and satellite images focused on the research and development of carbon cycle process imaging

incubator of application outputs focused on new technologies related to global climate change: new techniques of biological carbon sequestration, 3rd generation of biofuels
