Forests of the Czech Republic have entered into an agreement with CzechGlobe

The goal of the cooperation agreement is to interconnect the practice with the academic sphere and to work with scientists when solving existing issues regarding forests. The General Director of the Forests of the Czech Republic, Josef Vojáček, concluded this agreement with Michal V. Marek, the Director of the Global Change Research Institute CAS – CzechGlobe, at the end of 2018.

The common theme of both the scientists and foresters is to increase the forests’ resilience to drought, to monitor drought effects and to use short- and medium-term drought forecasts. Together they are also going to participate in the development of tools for assessing the risks of natural fires of stands in the landscape. They are also going to model the development of wood reserves under the conditions of climate change and they are going to forecast the development of the health condition of forests according to the volume of salvage logging. “The first step we are going to do is to create a network of observers for www.intersucho.cz this year,” Josef Vojáček commented the agreement with CzechGlobe.
