The International External Evaluation Commission has evaluated the five-year implementation period of the European Research Infrastructure ICOS-ERIC, of which CzechGlobe is a founding member. Since its foundation, it has established itself as a global player in the field of greenhouse gas and climate change observation. The Commission assessed five areas – management, financial management, internal involvement and integration, data and its use, and international cooperation, based on a set of 36 key performance indicators.
The evaluation report highlights the strong commitment of the scientific community involved and cooperation of ICOS with all key global organizations influencing international policy-making. It highly appreciates the collection of long-term, standardized and highly accurate data on greenhouse gases across Europe, which it provides through the Carbon Portal (ICOS Carbon Portal). As a result, ICOS has become the scientific base for a value chain supporting global policy-making in the fight against climate change and its impacts.
