Research Focus

Research focuses on the mechanisms underlying Norway spruce (Picea abies) resistance and resilience to bark beetle (Ips typographus) outbreaks under climate change. This research investigates tree survival, host selection, physiological and biochemical defence strategies, climate–growth relationships, and forest disturbance dynamics using dendrochronology, genomics, analytical chemistry, ecological modelling, remote sensing, and spatial analysis. It also addresses bark beetle-associated fungal and microbial communities, biodiversity responses to wind and bark beetle disturbances, and the development of adaptive forest management strategies for climate-resilient ecosystems.
