CzechGlobe is a partner of the new European project IRISCC

On April 1, the new project of the European research infrastructure IRISCC (Integrated Research Infrastructure Services for Climate Change risks) focused on the risks caused by climate change was officially launched. The project, which is coordinated by Janne Rinne from the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke), integrates 14 research infrastructures and e-infrastructures and brings together 80 partners from all over Europe, including scientists from CzechGlobe and its infrastructure.

The project, supported by the HORIZON Europe programme with a budget of almost €15 million, aims to bolster society’s capacity to tackle climate change risks and build resilience. This is achieved by offering access to interdisciplinary research platforms and national as well as European infrastructures including observatories, experimental facilities, advanced modeling tools and data.

In addition to providing an excellent research infrastructure, IRISCC is committed to open knowledge sharing and wide capacity building. Therefore, the project offers training programs to equip the new generation of researchers with the skills to use these integrated research services in climate change risk research.

The research infrastructure can be used by the research community, commercial entities, policy makers, international agencies and society in general. IRISCC represents a significant step forward in strengthening the collective response to climate challenges. By harnessing the collective expertise of European Research Institutions, this project equips us to build a more resilient future.
