Riparian ecosystem management under environmental change

Department of Carbon Storage in the Landscape organized in Pruhonice near Prague on 3rd and 4th April 2019 the meeting with the title Riparian ecosystem management under environmental change. The meeting was a part of COST Action CA16208 Knowledge conversion for enhancing management of European riparian ecosystems and services (CONVERGES).

Total 66 participants from 27 different countries (Europe and USA) discussed about the riparian vegetation ecology and about its monitoring and protection in the frame of current management of the forest-agricultural landscape. New findings were brought according to expectation by the invited speaker dr. Patrick Shafroth from USA in his lecture “Restoration of riparian systems in western North America: environmental flows to dam removal.“ Last we had unfortunately to state that our knowledge about resistance, resilience, and regeneration ability of the riparian vegetation are up to know limited and regarding to generally small interest about these habitats, their understanding advance only slowly.
